1994
The first pilot project for Western Ukraine “Small Farm Development in Drohobych District” designed by Heifer International Representative Office in Central and Eastern Europe was approved. This project was meant to provide support to local farmer families in developing their homesteads and improving the livestock.
1995
The first delivery of Simmental heifers to smallholder families in Drohobych Region took place within the first pilot project in Ukraine.
1998
The first conference held for Ukrainian smallholders.
2000
International Charitable Foundation Heifer Project International (Heifer-Ukraine) is officially registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Kyiv as an LSE.
The Annual Conference for Central and Eastern European Program of Heifer International with the participation of Country Directors of eleven CEE countries along with Heifer Headquarters’ representatives was held in Lviv. A workshop on CEE Program strategic planning was organized during the conference.
2001
Heifer conducted its first gender awareness workshop in Ukraine. The first Annual Project Holder Meeting in Ukraine was held.
A group of Heifer donors from the USA along with Heifer Headquarters staff members made their first Study Tour to Ukraine.
The first training is conducted for project leaders on Cornerstones and issues of gender integration.
2002
Annual Project Holder Meeting was held. The first dairy cooperative was registered within Heifer Ukraine project in Kuzmivka village.
2003
Heifer Ukraine Project Holder Meeting and Strategic Planning workshop were conducted.
Main office of Heifer Ukraine moved from Lviv to Kyiv. Lviv office continues operations in the capacity of a field office.
The Eurasia Foundation awarded a grant with a goal to create a demonstration model of sustainable development in the Carpathians based on the results of two other Heifer Ukraine projects.
2004
Conference “Ten years in Ukraine – experience exchange” was held to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Heifer activities in Ukraine.
Heifer-Ukraine’s first Strategic Plan for 2004-2008 was developed and approved.
2005
Group of donors from the US have visited Western Ukraine together with HI Headquarters representatives.
2006
Leadership training is held in Kyiv for Heifer top managers from different countries.
2007
International training workshop in Kyiv on project monitoring and evaluation for Heifer representatives from different countries.
2009
Heifer-Ukraine has received funding from the Netherlands Embassy (Matra-KAP) program for environmental project on participatory watershed management in Odesa region.
Heifer-Ukraine has received Benefactor of the Year national award as the best international charity organization in Ukraine!
The flood rehabilitation project for Western Ukraine is developed and approved by Heifer International HQ to help alleviate the damage caused by the 2008 summer flooding.
Heifer-Ukraine Country Program Strategic Plan 2009-2013 is developed and approved.
2010
Heifer-Ukraine has received funding from Danone Ecosystem Fund for Milk Communities Project. The first Phase of the project for the amount of 500,000 Euro has started in February 2010.
Discussion of the possibility of a new project to organize Cooperative Farm and Services for Smallholders in Dnipropetrovsk oblast has started with Danone Ecosystem Fund.
We changed the Ukrainian version of the name of our organization to Добробут Громад /Community Wellbeing. The new name has a clear meaning and is easy to remember by all stakeholders in Ukraine. |
