Who is eligible to receive support from the Foundation?

Heifer-Ukraine provides assistance to 1) rural families – those with many children, low and average income families united in membership-based organizations 2) residents of social rehabilitation centers, orphans.

Who can implement the project:

Agricultural service cooperatives (AS coops) –  (membership based organizations) which are allowed to conduct economic activities based on commission agreements with Heifer-Ukraine.

Public unions (public organizations of different forms), only within the frame of activities allowed by NGO bylaws.

Eligibility requirements: families/social institutions in rural areas, which receive support from Heifer-Ukraine, must be able to take care of the plants/animals they receive, fulfill the Foundation’s cornerstones and follow project implementation rules.

Types of support provided:

The assistance provided by Heifer-Ukraine includes highly productive purebred animals (cows, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits, etc.); bee families; seeds and plant saplings; agricultural equipment and supplies, which will help gain the maximum income from animal husbandry; training programs. Heifer-Ukraine does not provide any funding for purchasing land, transportation or buildings!

Criteria used by the Heifer International Headquarters

• Large-scale projects with total budget no less than 250,000 (with min. 50% co-funding).
• The number of families, which participate in project including those who receive animals/ plants – directly and as pass-ons and people who receive trainings and services from the AS coop and Heifer-Ukraine.
• Cost to be spent per family in the frame of the project budget.
• Number of pass-ons and how quickly the animals/ plants could be passed on.
• The annual potential impact of the project.
• The value of the first year project budget.
